Being on my own has become so unfamiliar to me -- I find it quite foreign, and unsettling -- that I scarce know what to do with myself anymore! It seems I have been trapped in a life not mine own, and only now have the chance to regain what I appear to have lost.
Thankfully, Doctor Mason has been so kind as to try to involve me in various festivities and social events. Having not seen the doctor in quite a long awhile, I was relieved to see that the fuzzy caterpillar that had been attacking the underside of his nose had moved on, likely to warmer climes.
The good doctor recently extended an invitation to me for a costumed party, though at this time I cannot remember just where, which I gratefully accepted. The music was somewhat offbeat, though delightful, and the dancing was just as enjoyable.
In the midst of the party, when the winners of best costume prizes were being determined, my feverish dancing was interrupted when a young man handed his vote to me accidentally. The gentleman was quite charming, and apologized for the error -- I had never been mistaken for the hostess before, and was admittedly surprised.
As I seem to find every day, the world works in mysterious ways. The gentleman (whom I later discovered was a Mr. Albatros) turned out to be an amazing conversationalist, and very wonderful to talk with for the evening. The topics were spread out so greatly, and we discussed some things to such length, that it seemed we spoke for ages--not merely a few hours.
I simply must remember to attend these parties more often...
